Privacy
What this site collects.
Short version: the contact form, and which pages get read. There is no advertising pixel and nothing is sold, but this site does use Google Analytics, which sets cookies. What that means is set out below.
The contact form
When you send us a message we receive the name, email address, enquiry type and details you typed. We use them to answer you and, if it goes somewhere, to carry on that conversation. We do not sell them, rent them, or add you to a mailing list you did not ask for.
The message goes to our own system first — the portal we built and run at portal.dwcapitalholdings.com — where it is stored as an enquiry and we are notified. If that system is unreachable the form falls back to Netlify Forms, who host this site, and the message is stored in that account instead. Netlify processes it on our behalf under their own terms.
To keep automated submissions down, the form carries a hidden field that people never see and bots fill in, and our system limits how many messages one connection can send in an hour. Neither of those involves tracking you or setting anything on your device.
The two checkers
The property management page and the opportunities page each have a short questionnaire that gives you a verdict. Your answers stay in your browser: nothing is transmitted while you click through them, and the verdict is worked out on your own device.
They only send anything if you choose to. If you fill in an email address and press send, we receive that address, the answers you gave, the verdict you were shown, and anything you typed in the note field — and it arrives the same way a contact form message does. If you do not press send, we never see that you used it at all.
What we do not do
Google Analytics
We use it to see which pages get read and what people came looking for, so we write about the right things. It is configured without Google Signals and without ad personalisation, so the data is not fed into advertising profiles. We do not know who you are. You can opt out for every site at Google's opt-out page.
No advertising
No pixels, no remarketing tags, no data shared with an ad network.
Cookies
Google Analytics sets its own cookies to tell one visit from another. We set none of our own beyond that, and nothing that identifies you. Blocking cookies for this site costs you nothing: every page works exactly the same without them.
Nothing sold
We do not sell or share personal information with third parties for their own marketing.
Things stored on your own device
One feature remembers something locally, in your browser, using local storage: the packing checklist in the guest guide remembers which items you have ticked, and that is the whole of it. That information never leaves your device, we cannot see it, and clearing your browser data removes it.
The dark-sky planner calculates moon phases in your browser from the date you choose. The date is not transmitted anywhere.
Fonts
Typefaces are served by Google Fonts, so your browser requests those files from Google when a page loads. That request carries your IP address, as any request for a file does.
Booking through a channel
If you book through Airbnb, Vrbo or Hipcamp you are on their website, under their privacy terms, not ours. What they pass to us as your host is set by them.
Keeping and removing
We keep enquiries for as long as they are useful to the conversation or to our records of a transaction. If you would like your message and details deleted, ask us and we will do it. You can also ask what we hold about you.
Getting in touch about privacy
Use the contact form and say it is a privacy request. It reaches the owners directly.
